The Balm I Made for My Eczema (And Why You Might Want to Try It Too)

A few days ago, I posted something a little different on Instagram.

No fancy filters. Just me, mid-eczema flare, applying a thick, yellow balm I’d made myself — a blend of zinc oxide and calendula (along with lovely nourishing plant oils and butters) I’ve been quietly testing behind the scenes.

👉 Watch the reel here

The reel was raw, a little messy, and honestly, a little vulnerable to share. But the response? Beautiful. So many of you sent messages like “I need this!” or “Please release this!” - and it reminded me why I do what I do.

Why I Made This Balm

My skin has always been sensitive, but when eczema flares, it’s next-level uncomfortable -dry, red, itchy, and sore. I wanted something that could:

  • Soothe the redness and irritation
  • Support healing without stinging
  • Act as a physical barrier to protect compromised skin
  • Avoid any fragrance, essential oils, or common triggers

So I made something for myself. A thick, nourishing balm built around two hero ingredients:

🧴 Zinc oxide – known for its calming, anti-inflammatory properties and ability to protect the skin barrier
🌼 Calendula extract – traditionally used to support skin healing and reduce redness

The texture is rich and occlusive, perfect for locking in moisture and soothing angry patches. It’s not glamorous - it’s yellow, thick, and leaves a soft cast - but it works.

Could This Be Skiin Days Next Product?

This balm isn’t part of the Skiin Days range yet. But after the feedback on that reel, I’m seriously considering making it official. There’s clearly a need.

If that’s you - or if you deal with eczema, dermatitis, or dry, reactive skin - I’d love to invite you to help me test it.

Want to Be a Product Tester?

I’m looking for a small group of people to try this balm and share honest feedback. If you're interested, just fill out the short form below. It’s completely free to sign up - I’ll be selecting a handful of testers and sending out trial jars soon.

AHAs vs BHAs: What’s the Difference and Which One Should You Use?

AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are water-soluble acids made from sugary fruits or milk. They work by dissolving the bonds that hold dull, dead skin cells on the surface. This helps reveal smoother, more even-toned skin underneath.
